Spiritual Breathing
Dr. Richard Shropshire - The Barnabas Connection
By faith, the believer can continue to experience God's love and forgiveness, and fellowship with Him.
If you become aware of an area of your life (either an attitude or an action) that is displeasing to the Lord, or if you retake the "throne" of your life through an act of deliberate disobedience, you can be restored through "spiritual breathing."
Spiritual breathing (exhaling the impure and inhaling the pure) is an exercise in faith that enables you to continue to experience God's love and forgiveness.
1. Exhale:
a. Confess your sin (agreeing with God concerning your sin and repenting of it - "repentance: a change in attitude and action)
b. Thank Him for your forgiveness and cleansing according to I John 1:9:
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
2. Inhale:
a. Surrender the control of your life to Christ, and receive the filling of His Holy Spirit "filling:" the release of His power in you to do His will
b. Trust that He now directs and empowers you, not according to emotion, but according to the command of Ephesians 5:18: ". . . be filled with His Spirit . . ." AND according to His promise of I John 5:14-15: "If we pray according to His will . . . He hears and answers . . ."
You can live in moment by moment victory as you breath spiritually, just as you live in physical health as you breath physically.
